No I don’t actually like Alys Rivers lol, I also find the age gap awkward, I was just worried she would spoil the relationship between Varona and Aemond (I’m glad she’s not going to)!

Sounds like Varona is going to have a very hard time and be forced to choose between Aemond her father :( I wish she could live happily with them both and the two sides can put aside their petty enmities and make peace.

It’s kinda tragic that the Dance is a story about a family fighting each other and none of them tried to make peace or think about the effects of war on the people or on their dynasty as a whole.

She definitely won’t be a part of my story! If I decide to include any other love interests, they’ll definitely be age appropriate haha! Vanora and Aemond are endgame for sure though!

If only, right? But then my story would be very boring, and I live for drama and suffering!!

And it’s sort of realistic, I think? When it comes to power/money, people are willing to do anything - including betraying their family.

Will Alys Rivers/Nettles still exist as future characters in your story given Varona’s existence?

Who would Daemon choose between Rhaenyra(and the Blacks)/Varona if Varona ends up siding with Aemond during the war?

Looking forward to your next chapter :)

I’m sorry if you like her but I cannot stand Alys and for that reason she won’t be in my fic. I feel like she is super manipulative and their relationship made me feel icky because of the age difference.

As for Nettles, I don’t feel anything for her and there’s so little of her in the book that I don’t feel like she’s worth bringing into my fic.

Daemon loves Vanora but if she chose to side with Aemond he would not forgive her. He wouldn’t actively try and harm her like he would with the rest of the Greens because he loves her. BUT he would feel betrayed, and I don’t think he’d ever see her the same. He would pick Rhaenyra’s side for sure!

Thank you so much!!!! I should be posting one soon! <333

Does Daemon prefer Varona or Baela/Rhaena?

It’s interesting that he really hated Varona’s mother and loved the twins’ mother, but then he seems to have some special affection for Varona as his first child.

I hope they don’t fall out in the future due to the war/other issues :)

Hmm I wouldn’t say he necessarily “prefers” her over the twins since they’re all his children and he loves them equally. But I would agree when you say he has special affection! It’s partly because of the first child thing you mentioned but also because he relates to her the most. I feel like the twins (because they’re young and their mother’s child) don’t really get him. Vanora understands him on a level they don’t because she’s her father’s child. Daemon doesn’t really see Rhea in her and just sees himself!

Things won’t be perfect all the time but at the end of the day, they love each other and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to protect her!

Does Varona know about her father’s terrible relationship with her mother? Would she ever find out how he insulted Rhea, and would that impact her relationship with him?

Hey!

So at the root of this fic is family dynamics, especially the father daughter relationship between Daemon and Vanora.

She is unaware of the relationship Daemon had with Rhea but she will find out in the future. It will impact her relationship with him for sure!

Rhea was there first and she’s very special to Vanora even if they didn’t have a lot of time together. To find out the person she looks up to was so hateful to his wife/her mother will be a huge blow and change how she sees him.

It will be a whole plot point! I dropped some scenes in the earlier chapters where she notices interactions her father has with others and how they seem to fear him. As a child, she doesn’t really get why - but as an adult she’ll slowly start to understand, and it will begin with Rhea!

Hope this helps! <3

I have a question about the Varona/Daemion fake betrothal thing. Why would Corlys and Rhaenys even suggest Varona as heir? She isn’t Laena’s biological daughter so she doesn’t have any Velaryon blood. Wouldn’t people find it odd that they name Daemon and Rhea’s daughter as heir to Driftmark? They could have named Baela/Rhaena and falsely betrothed them to Daemion.

Also, would Baela and Rhaena still be engaged to Jace/Luke in this scenario?

I love this question! I’m still debating whether to go more into detail in the fic so I’m going to use this as an opportunity to explain!

There are several layers to this, so I’ll just start with saying that Baela/Rhaena are still planned to be engaged to Jace/Luke. In the background somewhere, Rhaenyra had discussed it with Daemon so they wouldn’t be free, even for a fake engagement.

Vanora is unattached so she’s the easiest option. Using Balea or Rhaena would make things complicated since Rhaenyra has political plans based on them getting engaged to Jace and Luke!

As for Corlys and Rhaenys, their reasoning is a bit different. Corlys knows his brother - and by default - his brother’s son. At the root, Vaemond and Daemion are power hungry and ambitious. Daemion would not be willing to be engaged to Baela or Rhaena because they have a more secure claim to Driftmark. If he were to marry either of them, he would be the less powerful one in the relationship. He craves a relationship where he’s the one who holds all the power. Vanora would give him that. Corlys knows this, and he’s using Daemion’s ambition to his advantage.

As for the Velaryon blood, it doesn’t really matter because Vanora would take on the Velaryon name upon marriage. Also, she is a Targaryen, and they go way back to Old Valyria so there’s some Velaryon blood in here for sure!

I hope this helps! If it doesn’t, feel free to ask me to elaborate! <3

Loving your fanfic Treaty of Faith! Varona is an adorable character and Daemon is much more humanized. I wonder how Varona would be able to play the politics of marrying Aemond/maintaining a relationship with Daemon, Rhaenyra, the Strong boys, the Velaryons. It seems that if she marries Aemond Rhaenyra would view her as a traitor, since such a marriage would put the Blacks at a significant disadvantage. It would also make a difference to the result of the war and what Daemon might do?

Thank you so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying the story<3

I had enough of everyone writing him as some abusive dad. Distant and cold? Yes! But he’s never harmed his children

Vanora is definitely going to be torn between the two for a while. But she does make a decision!

Right now, everything is slowly building up. I wanted things to be a little calm before everything goes to crap. But you can expect the next couple chapters to kind of show how the dynamics for the war will be!
